If you do not use Salesforce as your CRM, it can be a manual and tedious process to create accounts in Outreach. To speed up this process, you have the option to import accounts through a CSV file and assign prospects to these accounts.
Step 1: Import accounts
Click on the quick actions menu to bulk create. You’ll be brought to a new page with a dropdown menu. Select “Accounts Comma Separated Values File” and select the CSV that contains the account information that you’d like to import.
On the second step of the import, map the account fields contained in the CSV to the corresponding Outreach field.
We currently map to the following fields:
|Custom 1||Custom 10||Employees||Natural Name|
|Custom 2||Custom 11||External Source||Owner|
|Custom 3||Custom 12||Followers||Owner Id|
|Custom 4||Custom 13||Founded||Owner Username|
|Custom 5||Custom 14||Industry||Tags|
|Custom 6||Custom 15||Is Named Account||Type|
|Custom 7||Custom Id||LinkedIn URL||Website|
We recommend including a unique ID, which can be used to dedupe future Account CSV imports and is the field used by Outreach to assign prospects to their corresponding accounts. We recommend using your internal Account id or DUNS number.
Map the unique id to the “Custom id” Outreach field. This field should be an id that’s unique to the account, so that only net new accounts are created by Outreach. Unlike prospect CSV imports, we will not dedupe by other fields.
Step 2: Assign prospects to accounts via CSV
Once you’ve imported your accounts, you will be able to associate prospects to accounts that exist in the Outreach platform.
Similar to importing an account CSV, click on the quick actions menu to bulk create. You’ll be brought to a new page with a dropdown menu. Select “Prospects Comma Separated Values File” and select the CSV that contains the prospect information that you’d like to import.
On the second step of the import, map the CSV columns to the corresponding Outreach fields. Check the “Assign Account” option on the top of the page, which is verification that you’d like to assign the prospects to an account in Outreach. To associate the prospect to the correct account, make sure the account custom ID is included as a column in the CSV file. Both of these steps are required to assign prospects to accounts in Outreach.
The account custom id field will not appear unless the “Assign Account” option is selected.
