Assigning Stages in the sequence settings gives the user visibility on how prospects behave in the sequence. Outreach will automatically update the prospect's stage when a certain event takes place. These events are:
- Email bounces
- Prospect opts out
- Added to sequence
- First email delivered or call
- Prospect replies
- Marked as finished
- Prospect completes sequence, with no reply after X days
After the stage is updated, users will see the prospect's stage reflected on the prospect's profile and throughout Outreach. A user can then filter these stages in the Prospects page, allowing the user to quickly find prospects at a particular stage in the sales process.
Note: A user can add new stages and edit existing ones by going to Settings > Prospect > Stages in the left navigation bar.
Stages and Salesforce: These stages are going to match 1:1 with the "Lead/Contact Status" that exist in Salesforce. For example, if a prospect replies to an email, their stage or status would update to the stage created in either Outreach or Salesforce. Additionally, users must use the exact string to map the Lead and/or Contact status between Outreach and Salesforce.
