The account natural variable is used when an account's proper name is more formal than the name used in reference. For example, Pacific Gas & Electric is more commonly known as PG&E. To use the common name, the "natural name" field will need to be added to all prospects under the account.
Add the Account Natural Name to Prospects
- Search for all prospects that contain the same domain, such as @outreach.io.
- Select all prospects then click on the pen and paper button on the top of the prospect list view page.
- Assign the prospects to the account that corresponds to the account record in Salesforce.
- On the left hand navigation bar, click into "Accounts" and find the account that you just assigned to your prospects.
- Click "Edit" on the top of the page and fill in the "Account Natural Name" (ex: Outreach.io may be the name of the account, but the account natural name is Outreach).
Use the Account Natural Name in Sequences
- Click on the sequences button on the left hand navigation panel. If your navigation bar is expanded, the button is a paper airplane. If your navigation bar is collapsed, sequences are nested under the open book button.
- Find your template or sequence step that needs the account natural name. Click into the template or sequence step.
- In the compose window, find the variable button, which is a set of curly brackets. Click "Accounts" on the top of the pop-up box and select {{account.natural_name}} .
- Click on the blue eye on the right of the compose window to view a preview of your variable.
Note: The account natural name applies to prospects that have been assigned to an account. There is also a {{company_natural}} variable, which is used for prospects that do not have an account. To use {{company_natural}}, sort your prospects by their domain and bulk assign "Company Name" using the pen and paper button on the top of the page.
