Symptom
Users cannot see or interact with custom objects in Outreach.
Applies To
- Outreach Admins
Before You Begin
- You must have Admin-level access in Outreach to configure user profile permissions.
- Custom objects must already be created and available in your org before permissions can be assigned.
Resolution
- Log in to Outreach as an Admin.
- Go to Administration > User Management > Access Control.
- Select the relevant profile.
- Scroll to the custom object you want to edit.
- Choose the appropriate permission types and levels.
Cause
By default, new custom objects do not inherit permissions. If custom object permissions have not been manually configured for a user profile, users on that profile will have no access to the object. Custom object permissions control both which objects users can access and what actions they can perform.
Additional Information
Notes & Limitations
- Permissions apply to both the UI and the Public API.
- Profiles cannot be updated in bulk — each one must be configured individually.
- Permissions are unique per object and cannot be inherited.
- To customize access for a specific user, create a new profile.
For ownership-based governance, ensure your object has at least one user lookup field defined with This field represents record ownership enabled. For more information, refer to Setting Up Custom Object Permissions.
