Applies To

  • Sequences

  • Emails

Answer

When an email is sent from the sequence or one off email to one prospect and user adds a second prospect in the 'To' or 'CC' field, if one of those prospects opts out, they will be both opted out.

In addition, when an email is set to Prospect A and user CC someone that is not a prospect.  If the person who is not a prospect click on unsubscribe, prospect A would be marked as opted out.

However, when the second prospect is added in 'BCC' field, the prospect will not be opted out.

What happens when emails are forwarded?

If prospect A forwards a sequence email to someone who is not a prospect.

  • The person who receives the forwarded email clicks on the link to unsubscribe from the email. Prospect A is opted out.

If prospect A forwards the sequence email to prospect B.

  •  Prospect B clicks the link to unsubscribe. Only prospect A will show opted out and not prospect B.

Additional Information

The opt out functionality only works for prospects in Outreach based on the scenarios above.
