Procedure
Prospects & Accounts
- Access the Outreach Platform.
- Click on Administration (Gear Icon).
- Click on Prospect or Accounts under Records.
- Click on Fields configuration tab and then on Add Configuration.
Note: When you creating new or editing an existing configuration and changing the validation from one type to another, the existing records containing data that does not match the new validation will not be retroactively altered when the validation is changed. When a user modifies an existing record, they will be prompted to update the field with a valid and supported value. The invalid data may lead to inaccuracies in filtering and sorting records on the List View pages.
We suggest that, before changing the data type, ensure that the existing records contain data that will match the desired data type. Fixing the data can be done via the existing experiences such as, CRM sync, csv imports or single/bulk actions. - Select the field that you want to configure.
Note: If the field that you are trying to configure is synced with your CRM, you can import the configuration from your CRM. For pick-lists, you can also import the values from your CRM. - Select a field from the Field dropdown menu, which you want to configure.
- Add a descriptive label for the field.
Note: Named custom fields appear as a named field on the Prospect or Accounts records and within the CRM plugin field mappings on the Lead, Contact and Accounts objects. - Choose one of the offered types/validations (Numerical, pick-list, etc.) for the field.
- In addition to the type, you can mark the field as a “Required Field”. This will force the users to add a values when creating or updating records.
Note: If you are using “Prospect Auto Create” (read more), when records are created via the Prospect Auto Create feature, they will bypass the required fields validation. This means that initial prospect records can be created without all required fields being filled out. Once a prospect record is created, any subsequent updates made by users will enforce the required fields validation. The recommendation is to have Prospect auto creation, if you plan to configure more than just the following 2 fields as required: Email address and prospect name. - Click Save.
The new validation for the selected field is created and appears as a under the Fields Configuration tab for the selected object.
Opportunities

When a user next modifies the existing record, they will be prompted to update the field with a valid and supported value at that time. The outdated data may lead to inaccuracies in filtering and sorting records on the List View pages.
