Objective
The purpose of this article is to provide guidance to Outreach users in organizing and executing tasks more efficiently using the Group By feature in Task List Views. The Group By capability enables users to structure their task lists based on key attributes such as Account, Opportunity, Sequence, One-off tasks, or Time zone. This allows Outreach users to work through tasks in a more focused and contextual manner—mirroring their workflows and making task execution more streamlined and action-driven.
Applies To
- Outreach Users
Before you Begin
Task List Views can be accessed from the following areas within Outreach:
- Activity > Tasks: A global view of all tasks across accounts, opportunities, sequences, and triggers.
- Account > Task Tab: A scoped view showing tasks related to a specific account.
- Opportunity > Task Tab: A scoped view showing tasks related to a specific opportunity.
- Sequence > Task Tab: A scoped view showing tasks associated with a particular sequence.
The Group By experience is available in all four views, though some grouping options may be limited based on the scoped context (e.g., grouping by Account is not available in the Account > Task Tab).
Overview
The Group By feature in Task List Views allows users to organize their tasks by key attributes such as Account, Opportunity, Sequence, One-off, and Time zone—making task execution more structured and context-driven. This enhancement brings the grouping power of Home 360 into other task surfaces across Activity, Account, Opportunity, and Sequence views.
By grouping tasks, users can work through related actions more efficiently, prioritize their workflow based on how they naturally operate (e.g., by Account or Sequence), and maintain better visibility into their task queue. The feature adapts intelligently based on the context of each view—for example, grouping by Account is not shown in the Account > Task Tab since the view is already scoped to a specific account.
Note:
- Grouping by Account is not supported in Account > Task Tab, since it's scoped to a single account. Similarly, Grouping by Opportunity and Grouping by Sequence is not supported in Opportunity> Task Tab and Sequence>Task Tab respectively, for the same reason.
- Group By is currently not supported in Smart Views. However, users can apply Grouping on top of Smart Views, while executing the Tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don’t I see the option to group by Account or Opportunity in certain views?
The Group By menu dynamically adjusts based on the context. If you're in a scoped view (like Account > Task Tab or Opportunity > Task Tab), the option to group by the scoped object (Account or Opportunity) is hidden because all tasks already belong to that object.
Can I group tasks by multiple attributes at once?
No, you can only group by one attribute at a time (e.g., Sequence or Time zone). However, you can combine Group By with filters, search, and sort to narrow down and organize your task view further.
How is Group By different from sorting?
Sorting arranges tasks in a linear order (e.g., by Scheduled Date), while Group By clusters tasks into sections based on a shared attribute (e.g., all tasks related to the same Account). You can use both together for greater control.
Will my Group By preference be saved when I revisit the page?
No, currently Group by is not supported in Smart Views in Outreach. However, for any Save Views users can apply Group By on top while executing the Tasks.
Does Group By work for all task types (email, call, LinkedIn, generic)?
Yes. Grouping works across all task types. You can group your full task list regardless of whether it contains calls, emails, LinkedIn steps, or generic tasks.
