As you prepare to connect Salesforce to Outreach, there are a few terms that are important to understand:
The polling function allows for Outreach to automatically scan Salesforce for any new and/or changed leads/contacts.
The polling frequency determines how often we poll for new and/or changed leads/contacts.
Note: By lowering the polling frequency from the default 10 minutes, more API calls will be used.
The pushing function will automatically push changes that occur to a prospect record in Outreach to Salesforce. For example, if the stage of a prospect changes to "replied", then we will automatically push this stage update to SFDC.
This function will create leads/contacts in Outreach from Salesforce. For example, if you have polling (explained above) turned on and inbound create on, we will create a new corresponding lead in Outreach whenever a lead in Salesforce is created or updated.
If a lead is updating in salesforce (and there is a corresponding lead in Outreach), we will pull this update into Outreach.
Outbound create will take a prospect in Outreach (that is not yet in Salesforce) and push it up to Salesforce as a newly created lead/contact.
Any updates that occur on prospects within Outreach will be pushed up to Salesforce.
NOTE: only fields that are mapped in the 'fields' section of the plugin will be pushed up to salesforce.
Messages & Events
These are the activity postings that will be pushed up to salesforce after emails are delivered/received, tasks are completed, calls are made, or opens/clicks occur on any email deliveries. These can be customized by clicking on the gear icon to the right of each specific function.
