Overview
Reporting for AI Content enables Outreach users to analyze how personalized content is performing across sequences and templates. It surfaces detailed performance metrics — including email open rates, click rates, reply rates, specifically for messages that include AI-generated personalized blocks or templates, or sequences.
This reporting allows teams to:
- Identify AI-driven content across Sequences, Templates, and Emails via clear indicators.
- Track core performance metrics (Delivered, Opened, Clicked, Replied) for personalized blocks
- Use new filters in list views, Sequence pickers, Outbox, and performance reports to isolate and analyze AI vs non-AI content.
- View hoverable tooltips to understand how personalization was configured (e.g., buyer/seller data) across draft and what inputs were used for delivered emails.
- AI Content Transparency in Delivered Emails Gain complete visibility into how much of each delivered email was written by AI versus edited or authored by humans, with color-coded highlights that distinguish AI-generated, AI + human-edited, and fully human-written content.
- Protect data integrity with guardrails that prevent loss of reporting context when editing templates or sequence steps.
The feature is designed to support content, enablement, and sales teams in optimizing their outreach efforts based on real usage and outcome data.
With this release, users will now be able to track and analyze performance of AI-generated and personalized content across Sequences, Templates, and Emails. Key enhancements include:
-

By toggling “Show AI Content with User Edits” in the top-right corner, the email reveals a color-coded breakdown AI-generated sections highlighted in purple, AI + human-edited parts shown with strikethroughs and replacements, and human-written text clearly marked giving users complete transparency into AI’s contribution to every email.
-
Guardrails for Reporting Integrity
- When editing Templates or Sequence steps that already have delivery metrics, users will receive a prompt encouraging them to save a new version to preserve reporting integrity.
-
Template and Sequence Pickers with AI Indicators
- When choosing templates or sequences (e.g., in triggers or bulk actions), users can now see which items include AI content.
These additions allow teams to visually identify, filter, and measure the effectiveness of AI-generated and personalized content at every stage — from creation to delivery to engagement.
How it Works?
Reporting AI Content works by identifying and tagging content generated through personalization blocks and Smart Email Assist, then surfacing performance metrics and filters across relevant workflows. Here’s how it operates end-to-end:
Identification of AI Content
- Outreach automatically detects when a personalization block or Smart Email Assist is used in Templates, Sequence Steps (or Variants), and individual Emails (drafted or delivered).
- Each AI-driven email step or template is tagged with an AI Indicator icon, visible in:
- Sequence and Template List Views
- Email Steps and Variants
- Sequence Picker and Email Outbox
- Prospect and Account Email Tabs
Performance Metrics for Personalized Content
- Delivered, Opened, Clicked, and Replied engagement metrics are now supported at the level of:
- Personalized blocks
- Templates with personalized content
- Email steps in Sequences
- These metrics allow teams to directly compare AI-powered content vs non-personalized content.
Smart Hover Insights
- Hovering over the AI icon provides configuration details, including:
- The data source used (buyer/seller data)
- Paragraph or block name used for personalization
- For Smart Email Assist: the inputs used to generate the email
- For the Email that are send using the AI content, hovering over the AI icon provides details about the inputs that were used in the personalization or the Smart Email Assist generated Email
Filtering for AI Content
- Users can filter Sequences, Templates, and Emails using a “AI Content is True filter” , allowing for targeted reporting and list views.
- Filters are available in: Sequence/Template List Views, Email Outbox, and Sequence Email Tabs.
AI Content Transparency in Delivered Emails
Users can now view the exact composition of AI-generated and human-written content within delivered emails. By opening any delivered email that includes AI content and toggling “Show AI Content with User Edits” on the top right, users can instantly see the content breakdown AI-generated sections highlighted in purple, AI + Human edited portions shown with strike-throughs and replacements, and fully human-written text left unmarked. This gives users full visibility into how AI contributed to their emails, ensuring clarity and confidence in communication.
Editing Guardrails for Accurate Reporting
- When a user attempts to edit an already-used Template or Sequence step (with delivered emails), Outreach will prompt them to:
- Either proceed with editing (and overwrite metrics), or
- Save a copy, preserving the original for accurate performance tracking.
Together, these enhancements ensure AI-generated content is not just trackable, but also actionable — empowering teams to optimize what’s working and iterate with confidence.
Additional Information
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifies as AI or personalized content in this reporting?
AI content includes:
- Personalization blocks inserted into Templates or Sequences using buyer/seller data.
- Emails generated or edited using Smart Email Assist.
- Any email step or variant within a Sequence that includes a personalization block.
- Templates that contain one or more personalization blocks.
Where can I see if a Sequence or Template includes AI content?
Look for the AI Indicator icon:
- In Sequence and Template list views
- Within individual Sequence Steps and Variants
- Inside the Sequence Picker used during bulk actions or triggers
- In the Email Outbox and Prospect/Account Email Tabs
On hover, the indicator reveals what was used to personalize the content (e.g., seller/buyer data, Smart Email Assist inputs, block name).
Can I compare the performance of AI vs non-AI content?
Yes. You can:
- Use Delivered, Opened, Clicked, and Replied metrics for both types of content.
- Apply the AI Content Filter to isolate performance of AI-powered vs non-AI Templates, Sequences, and Emails.
- Analyze results across Sequence/Template lists, the Email Outbox, and email performance dashboards.
What filters are available to help me analyze AI content?
You can filter for:
- Sequences or Templates that contain AI content
- Emails in the Outbox or within a Sequence that used AI
- Drafted or delivered emails using personalization blocks or Smart Email Assist
Filters support both True/False conditions, letting you exclude AI content when needed.
Where can I view performance metrics for personalized content?
You can view metrics in:
- Sequence Steps and Variants with personalized content
- Templates that include personalization blocks
- Email Outbox, where metrics apply at the individual email level
- Hover tooltips, which show block-level insights on configuration
Metrics include Delivered, Opened, Clicked, and Replied percentages.
What happens if I edit a Sequence or Template that already has metrics?
You’ll see a guardrail prompt warning you that editing the content may affect reporting accuracy. You can choose to:
- Proceed with editing (which may overwrite metrics), or
- Save a new version, preserving existing performance data.
This ensures that reporting stays clean and trustworthy for analysis.
Can I see what exactly was personalized in a delivered email?
Yes. In the Email Outbox and inside a Sequence’s Email tab, you’ll see:
- AI indicators on delivered emails
- On hover, you’ll see:
- Personalization block name
- Inputs used (buyer/seller data)
- For Smart Email Assist: the prompt inputs used
This level of detail helps you understand what was personalized and how.
Will I be able to see this AI indicator for Draft emails too?
Yes. Both drafted and delivered emails will show the AI indicator and hover content. Drafts show the block name and config (buyer/seller data), while delivered emails show the exact values used.
Can I use this reporting for LinkedIn steps in sequences?
Yes, if your LinkedIn step includes a personalization block, it will show the AI indicator icon with hoverable configuration info — just like email steps.
Does this feature suggest what content to personalize or how to improve it?
No. This feature focuses only on reporting. It does not generate, modify, or recommend content. It helps you understand how your personalized content is performing, so you can take action separately.
Are these metrics available in real-time at the individual prospect level?
No. This is designed for sequence- and template-level reporting, not for individual prospect-level content performance in real time.
How can I see what part of an Email was written by AI or by Humans?
You can see it directly within any delivered email that includes AI-generated content. Open the email and look for the “Show AI Content with User Edits” toggle at the top-right corner of the message view.
What happens when I turn on the “Show AI Content with User Edits” toggle?
Once enabled, the email visually highlights different content types:
- AI-generated content appears in purple.
- AI + Human edited content shows with the original AI text struck through and the user’s edits displayed alongside.
- Human-written text remains unmarked.
Is the toggle on by default?
No. The toggle is turned off by default to keep the standard email view clean and readable. Users can turn it on whenever they want to analyze content origin.
Can I see the highlights for all emails?
This feature only applies to emails that include AI-generated content. If an email was written entirely by a human, the toggle will not appear.
Will the highlights affect how recipients see my emails?
No. The AI transparency view is for internal visibility only. Recipients continue to see the original email as delivered — without any highlights or annotations.
